Liz Dinwiddie is the Director of the Strings at Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School in Rabun Gap, Georgia. At Rabun Gap she teaches violin, viola, cello, and bass to students in grades K-8. Ms. Liz also assists with the Upper School orchestra program. Liz freelances on both violin and viola in the North Georgia and Western North Carolina area with Allegro Music, Inc., Emerald Empire Band, and her own group Dinwiddie Strings.
Liz has been the featured string clinician at the Colorado Music Educators (CMEA) conference and has presented at the National conference for the American String Teachers Association (ASTA), Indiana Music Educators (IMEA) and Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) conventions. She has traveled to Onitsha, Nigeria to train string teachers in the Anambra State.
An active member of the American String Teachers Association, Liz is currently serving on the Community Music Board of the American String Teacher Association.
As a violist, Liz has been assistant principal viola of the Boulder Chamber Orchestra, and a member of the viola sections in the Greeley Philharmonic, Fort Collins Symphony, Boulder Philharmonic, Newburgh Symphony, and the Prague Multicultural Music Project. She has performed across the United States, and internationally in Italy, Prague, and Nigeria.
As a teacher, Liz's violin and viola students have performed with the All-State Orchestras in Colorado, Indiana, and South Carolina; the NAfME National Honors Orchestra, Spoleto Study Abroad Program, and the National Orchestra Festival.
Liz received her Bachelors degree in Viola Performance from Boston University, Master of Music from the University of Boulder, Colorado, in Viola Performance and Pedagogy, and has a Graduate Certificate in Music Education from Indiana University with a focus on both Music Education and Community Music School Administration.
